Scope and Contents: Lubell 3/4: 135 Black ink drawing (with gouache) depicting a group of children, along with a cat, in various costumes – hats, instruments, and masks. While there are elaborate shadows on the ground, no other background exists. There are penciled notes referring to adjustments in size to be made in a later version or printing of the piece. On the verso are also notes: one, crossed out, appears to refer to the subject of the drawing and the other to how to set up the drawing to be...

Scope and Contents: Lubell 3/4: 138 Ink and wash drawing (with watercolor) of various children on a playground. As just an ink drawing, with no coloration, the figures' bodies are pleasantly cartoonish, with lines used for definition and character. Color is only used sparsely to highlight some of the children, and a greyish-blue watercolor sheen is used on the edges and middle of the picture. A frame in ink and yellow has been painted around the scene. Signed W. Milius. Drawn on illustration board....

Drawing has little...

Scope and Contents: Lubell 3/4: 140 Ink and wash drawing (with watercolor) of three children and three adults on a farm. Like many of the pieces here, the inks make exaggerated but pleasing caricatures (with some cases, such as the man's exceptionally veiny feet). The color work has deep reds and light greens and yellows for the chickens, plants, and clothes. Borders are used exclusively for figures and architecture, with no clear distinction between land and sky. Signed W. Milius. Drawn on...
