Scope and Contents: Lubell 2/4: 22 Ink drawing (with watercolor and gouache) of a stone wall, made to appear much larger through forced perspective. The sea can be seen through the holes and spaces in the wall, as can be a group of telephone poles retreating into the distance. Small plant life in the front of the wall are details (as are the stones through crosshatching), while the grass behind it is much more uniform. Wash colors are used for the grass, the sea and sky, and some color patterns on...

Scope and Contents: Lubell 2/4: 23 Ink drawing of three figures on a black sheet, with white ink for outlines and light sections of blue and yellow for color and definition. Lubell 2/4: 24

Meticulous ink drawing of what appears to be an extensive coral formation or pile of seaweed. Ink lines of varying length and width are used for definition and visual distinction, but the lack of spatial context makes it seem almost adrift. What seems to be an eye can be seen near the center of the structure. Drawn on gray paper.

Watercolor wash coloring is used loosely, giving the piece a more energetic, less concrete design, while the black ink outlines used for the “man-made” structures are (a little) more specific. A single person, seen from afar, is placed in the center of the image, and his design is similarly both detailed (his shirt has a pattern) and vague (he is drawn from back, and the actual...
