Scope and Contents: This collection includes photographs purchased or taken by Elizabeth Woosley between 1945 and the mid-1950s. The bulk of the photographs are publicity photos or pictures of live performances. Woosley purchased the photographs during the period they were taken. The Heresies Collective was a group of New York-based artists, academics, writers, and critics who published the influential feminist art journal Heresies from 1977 to 1993. The collection contains meeting minutes, financial and business records, original artwork, manuscripts, photographs, press and publicity materials, and a range of materials documenting Heresies' editorial and publishing processes.

Abstract:

The collection consists of cassette recordings of oral history interviews conducted by librarian emeritus Gilbert Cohen. These interviews document the city of Newark and Rutgers University-Newark in the 1960s and 1970s. Sixty people associated with the Rutgers-Newark campus were interviewed including students, faculty, administration, and staff representing a wide spectrum of political beliefs and levels of activism.

Suzanne Benton is an artist, performer, sculptor, and feminist. Benton was an early member of the National Organization for Women (NOW) where she led the Women in Art Task Force, a member of both the Women's Caucus for Art, Connecticut Chapter and the National Association of Women Artists, and creator of Positive Power, a series of forums that garnered a large audience exposing the public to women artists of Connecticut.
