Scope and Contents: Lubell 6/8: 81 Black and colored woodcut print with hand colored highlights on tan paper. A statue of a goddess covered in floral ephemera. She has blooming flowers on branches for earrings, and a clam shell necklace. The most distinctive element, however, is the wheat stalks bound on her lap. Scope and Contents: Lubell 6/8: 82a-b Black woodcut print on mustard colored paper. Eight-armed Hindu goddess riding mythical bird. The hands hold the reins, a lotus, unknown object (pestle? bell?), trident, tambourine, conch shell and [the tail of the bird?]. The final hand is held up, palm facing forward. Both prints are signed Winifred Milius Lubell, but 82b is titled Sarasvati astride the bird Garuda. Notation to lower left on print 82a reads “No Color.” Prints...
