This collection consists of a series of audiocassette interviews with jazz clarinetist Barney Bigard. Conducted by fellow musician Barry Martyn, these interviews formed the basis of Bigard’s posthumous autobiography, With Louis and the Duke, which Martyn edited. Interview topics range from Bigard’s life and prolific jazz career to Bigard’s perspectives on race and philosophy.

Scope and Contents:
The Bob Porter collection includes business records for recording labels, including Atlantic Records. There are published and unpublished liner notes and record reviews. Also included are audio interviews with Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins, and other musicians. The collection comprises recording industry ephemera, concert programs, funeral programs, and published obituaries.
