Scope and content: The Elmer family papers are miscellaneous handwritten papers created by Drs. Jonathan and William Elmer. They include Dr. Jonathan Elmer's writings entitled "Miscellanii" and Dr. William Elmer's ledger book containing medical and farming accounts. The bound, undated (ca. 1794) "Miscellanii" contains Dr. J. Elmer's medical lectures (or medical notes?), and historical, political, and religious writings. Dr. W. Abstract:

The records of the Essex County Medical Society date from 1816 to 1997, but consist mainly of documents from 1816 to 1970. One document is dated 2005. The collection totals approximately 3 linear feet. They form Manuscript Collection 42 in the New Jersey Medical History Manuscript Collections. The records are open for research without restrictions under the conditions of the Archives' access policy.

Abstract: The Gaston family resided in Somerville, Somerset County, New Jersey. Among the members of the family were Hugh M. Gaston, his spouse Frances Gaston (nee Mallet-Prevost), their daughter Evelyn (who married Augustus VanderVeer), and the latter couple's daughter Elizabeth Kirkpatrick VanderVeer.
