This collection contains music manuscripts, bass strings, sand paper, and Curley Russell's bass.
This collection contains 396 reel-to-reel tapes of rare and unreleased performances compiled over four decades and donated by D. Russell Connor, a Benny Goodman biographer and discographer. It represents the most complete collection of Goodman recordings anywhere and includes reels from Goodman's personal archive, as well as those of many Goodman researchers and collectors worldwide. This collection was digitized as part of a grant from the Mellon Foundation.
This collection contains over forty letters written to Margolick in response to an inquiry he posted in the New York Times. In his inquiry, Margolick requested information from audience members who were present at Billie Holiday's live performance of "Strange Fruit" and from people who were influenced by Holiday's music.
This collection consists of seven open reel tapes which were sent to David Ostwald from Clarence Hutchenrider.
This collection contains over 2,000 black-and-white and color photographs of jazz performers (circa 1970-2000). The photographs are mostly work prints with some final shots included. There are 11x14 inch, 8x10 inch, and 5x7 inch concert photographs; some are resin coated, silver, or inkjet prints. Some prints are mounted.
This collection contains three horns, nine photographs, and one plaque. The photographs include images from Wheeler's time in the Cotton Club orchestra and Cab Calloway's orchestra in the 1920s. Also of note in the collection is an image of the USS Seattle Band (1942).
This collection consists of photographs of a musical performance at the Overseas Press Club. There are two sleeves of photographs labeled, "Dick Gileson jazz party 1967, Ellie Schocket photos." Some artists appearing in the photographs include Dick Hymann, Cliff Leeman, Les Paul, Oliver Jackson, Pee Wee Erwin, and Bobby Hackett.
This collection contains photographs, negatives, and slides of the Savoy Dancers and vaudeville acts from the Big Band Era. Many of the images have personal inscriptions.
