Director of the N.J. Division of Aging. Correspondence, speeches, notes, reports, subject files, and newspaper clippings related to her directorship (1958-1970); the 1971 and 1981 White House Conferences on Aging; the 1981 N.J. Governor's Conference on Aging; the Advisory Council of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging; and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
A union official who helped found the National Negro Labor Council, Ernest Thompson (1907-1971) was also a community activist who helped bring about political and economic gains for African Americans in Orange, New Jersey, and nearby communities.
Dr. Eugene E. Agger studied economics at the University of Cincinatti and Columbia University. He taught economics at Columbia before becoming a professor of economics and head of the Economics department at Rutgers University from 1926-1950. Dr. Agger held many prominent positions in the economics and banking communities and authored several books on those subjects.
The collection is comprised of letters and photographs about or concerning Eva Ellis and her family. Eva Ellis was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ellis, in November, 1873 in New Jersey. They lived on Tanglewood Farm outside of the town of Paterson.
