Scope and Contents
These boxes contain commercial recordings by or featuring Count Basie and are physically sorted alphabetically in the following groups: materials referencing Basie, materials that feature Basie as a sideman, new releases as sole lead artist, new releases as co-leader, compilations and rereleases, and “various artist” compilations that feature Basie.
Basie's Basement (RCA Camden, CAL 497), "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" (Brunswick, 9 78023), and The Complete Count Basie, Vol. 1 to 10, 1936-1941 and The Complete Count Basie, Vol. 11 to 20, 1941-1951 (CBS 66101 and 66102, respectively), contain marginalia or markings.
