Scope and Contents
This scrapbook includes photographs of Count Basie and the Count Basie Orchestra, Catherine Basie, the Basie extended family, musicians, dancers, comedians, a horse, and others, as well as clippings and correspondence. The contents of this scrapbook reflect its original organization when the Institute of Jazz Studies acquired the Basie papers and potentially include extraneous material that was not collated by the Basie family.
Conditions Governing Access
Scrapbooks are closed for use, but digital access copies of all scrapbooks are available on site at the Institute of Jazz Studies, with the exception of the “Dad and Ma” scrapbook, which has not yet been digitized. Please contact the Institute for more information.
