Scope and Contents
The collection consists of 420 analog audiocassettes, 21 digital audio discs (CDs), 10 digital audiocassettes (DATs), and 10 open audiotape reels of recorded panel discussions, conference proceedings, and interviews with and about jazz musicians, writers, producers, and others. Interviews were recorded for radio, dubbed from live broadcasts, and/or conducted in person or via telephone. The conference and panel recordings cover a range of subjects, such as discographical research, cultural studies, and jazz musicians. Many of the interviews for radio were conducted by jazz historian and radio show host Phil Schaap.

Series 1 is arranged alphabetically by name of interviewee, when known. Recordings with unidentified interviewees are arranged alphabetically by name of interviewer. All other recordings in Series 1 are arranged chronologically.
