Scope and Contents
This film is silent and includes mostly amateur footage of Powell at the sanitorium and with Thelonious Monk at Orly Airport in France. The film begins with Bud Powell drinking and smoking. Next, he is at the sanitorium with a nurse and Francis Paudras. At 1:33, Powell, Paudras, and one other man have a conversation at Paudras's apartment. At 2:28, Paudras and Powell greet Thelonious and Nellie Monk outside the Orly Airport in Pairs. Outside the airport are also Lucien Malson, Jean-Pierre Leloir, Nicole Grassian, and Ben Riley. At 4:04, there is footage of Monk (possibly backstage) conversing with other musicians including Bud Powell and Kenny Clarke. At 5:03 there is footage of Monk claiming his luggage inside the Orly Airport. Inside the airport are also George Wein, Jean-Louis Ginibre, Andre Francis, Charlie Rouse, and Butch Warren.
