Scope and Contents

This film is silent and shows clips of Bud Powell's funeral procession in Harlem, New York. There is footage of a Jazzmobile with musicians Barry Harris (piano), Benny Green (trombone), John Gilmore (tenor saxophone), Don Moore [uncertain] (bass), and Billy Higgins (drums). The six men walking behind the vehicle are Tony Scott, Kenny Dorham, Eddie Bonnemere [uncertain], Willie Jones [uncertain], Freddie Tolbert [uncertain], and James Weaver [uncertain]. There is a brief clip of Powell's casket in the hearse. At 1:20 are clips of Thelonious Monk and Nellie Monk at Orly airport in Paris, France. At the airport with Monk are George Wein, Jean-Louis Ginibre, Andre Francis, Charlie Rouse, and Butch Warren. Lucien Malson, Bud Powell, Jean-Pierre Leloir, Nicole Grassian, Francis Paudras, and Ben Riley greet Monk outside the airport.
