Scope and Contents:

Raritan Boat Club gave a ball last Monday. He attended it, but could not dance. He has made up most of last term's work. The Boat Club is to give a promenade concert on June 8. The new oared shell came yesterday, costing about $200. Wishes he could row her, as his arm will be out of the sling the following week. Long sermon by Dr. Van Zant that morning.

Scope and Contents:

Busy collecting funds for the Boat Club. "Mr. Duryee left all his money to his wife and no legacy so the college won't go into mourning." Wants Hattie to send down his stovepipe hat. He is elected director of the Athletic Association. The river rose about fifteen feet from Thursday's terrific rain, destroyed bridges and damaged the boat house. Kept score at the rifle shot yesterday.

Scope and Contents:

Has the same room as last year. Walked over to Amboy, about 12 miles, with Court Parker [Class of 1878] on Saturday, but wore new shoes, so had to "come back by the cars" that afternoon. The Parkers have a very queer old house called the Castle that was built in 1710. It was used as barracks in the Revolution, and has not been altered since. Magnificent view from one of the gables of the lower bay, Kills, Newark Bay, and way out to sea beyond Sandy Hook.

Scope and Contents:

The class of 1879 made themselves notorious by their behavior. Elmendorf elected editor of the Targum. In rehearsal for the comic opera Il Madagascaraine, to be given on the 14th of November. Went through Janeway's factory and saw quantities of beautiful paper. Two nice fellows accepted by the Society.

Scope and Contents:

Reviewing for examinations. Writing up December Targum. Boat Club concert Friday Night was a success (program enclosed), cleared expenses. Went to Yale vs. Princeton football game yesterday. Has taken a part in a play to be performed in January.

Scope and Contents:

Busy producing the Targum. Attended the Intercollegiate in N.Y. on Thursday, and Rutgers won the first prize. To appear as Romeo on February 22 in a parody of Romeo and Juliet to support the Boat Club.

Scope and Contents:

Had second sociable Friday night, at which he danced his legs off. He slept all Saturday recovering. Theatrical performance broken up for lack of time to prepare. "Juliet's" father wouldn't permit him. Targum for January came out a little late. Room is full of fellows and tobacco smoke, so he asks Hattie to excuse the disconnectedness of his letter.

Scope and Contents:

Busy writing for the Targum. Railroad bridge burned down just before sunrise, providing a grand sight. The interruption puts a stop to all parties, so more time to write.
