Nicoll Floyd Elmendorf to Hattie Elmendorf,, 1877, Monday [September 1
Dates
- 1877, Monday [September 1
Scope and Contents
Has the same room as last year. Walked over to Amboy, about 12 miles, with Court Parker [Class of 1878] on Saturday, but wore new shoes, so had to "come back by the cars" that afternoon. The Parkers have a very queer old house called the Castle that was built in 1710. It was used as barracks in the Revolution, and has not been altered since. Magnificent view from one of the gables of the lower bay, Kills, Newark Bay, and way out to sea beyond Sandy Hook.
