China's Food (ca. 1984)
Scope and Contents
Arrangement: Writings and Manuscripts Files is divided into six subseries: A. Education Related Writings, B. Articles and Short Manuscripts, C. Notes D. Publication Agreements and Royalty Statements, E. Other Projects.
Summary: Education Related Writings is organized chronologically and contains Tiger's typed field notes and interview transcripts from his time in Ghana, as well as a copy of his Master's Thesis from McGill University. Articles and Short Manuscripts is divided into two subseries, Published and Drafts. Published copies in this subseries contain magazines, journals or copied newspaper articles of Tiger's work and are arranged chronologically. Drafts are arranged alphabetically due to the undated material. Most drafts have titles, and the untitled drafts list the first few sentences to assist in identifying the topic. A concise list of all drafts can be found at the end of this finding aid. Notes are divided into typed and handwritten subseries and are unsorted due to lack of ability to organize chronologically or alphabetically. In the Typed Notes subseries of Notes, there is some topical organization. Publication Agreements and Royalty Statements are separated into Contracts, Royalty Statements, and Book Publicity and contain publisher contracts, Tiger's royalty statements through the years, and press releases and publicity posters from the publishers. Lastly, the Other Projects subseries is separated into three further subseries. These include three large written projects organized chronologically; Man and Beast Revisited, Book Reviews, and China's Food.
