Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Summary: The "American Revolution Bicentennial Commission" series is one of the larger series in the collection, although it spans a shorter time period than others. The series consists of a vast amount of correspondence, as well as memoranda, meeting agendas, clippings, proceedings and minutes, studies and reports, photographs, publications, newsletters and ephemera, such as brochures, pamphlets, and booklets, published by the commission.

There is a significant amount of material related to McCormick's membership on the Heritage '76 Committee, as well as on the Commission's relationship to New Jersey and projects that resulted from that relationship, such as the Bicentennial Parks Feasibility Studies and the Bicentennial Park that was built in New Jersey. (For an example of the New Jersey connection, see the Bicentennial Parks Feasibility Studies, Phases 1 and 2, which was removed to the Sinclair New Jersey Collection in Special Collections and University Archives.)

The "Correspondence" subseries contains McCormick's correspondence both to and from people involved with the Commission. The "Information, Bulletins, and Supporting Documents" subseries contains correspondence as well, but it reflects official communications between entities regarding the Bicentennial Commission and its activities. Some of these activities are further documented in the other subseries.
