Scope and Contents
Summary: These are made up of papers relating to the settlement of William Thompson's estate for which Sidney was administrator. They are made up mostly of financial papers which include accounts, inventories, conditions of sale, receipts and vendue papers. The accounts are made up of two folders. One containing the administrators account. These record the money transactions of the estate in both money received and money paid out. It lists the date, person amount and items. There is also one folder of the miscellaneous accounts comprising several different individual accounts with the estate of William Thompson.
There are also financial papers relating to the property of the estate. There is one folder containing the inventory of the property belonging to the estate, which list items and their value. One folder made up of the conditions pertaining to the sale of the property. It also includes one folder with the vendue book from the sale of the property which gives the name of the buyer, the item bought, and the price.
There is also four folders of receipts for the estate. Three of these folders contain numbered receipts from 1-78, with gaps and one folder of unnumbered receipts.
In addition to financially related material there is also one folder of letters received by Sidney in reference to the estate, one folder of an official notice and one of miscellany. The official notice consists of Henry D. Polliemus the surrogate of Monmouth County naming Sidney Thompson administrator of William's estate date -April 15, 1843. The miscellaneous folder contains several calculations and some memorandum.
