Scope and Contents

Summary: These papers relate to the settlement of Roy's estate for whom William was one of the executors. They are mostly made up of financial records such as accounts, inventories, and receipts.

The accounts comprise three folders. One is the executor's accounts. These record the money transactions of the estate in both money received and money paid out. It gives the date, individual and in some cases what money was for. There are also some memorandums included. In addition, there is one folder of the executor's account with the trustees of the congregation. There is also one folder of miscellaneous accounts. These are made up of other individual's accounts with the Roy estate.

The inventories are made up of one folder. They list the personal property and chattels belonging to the estate and include an appraisal of the property. The receipts comprise one folder from 1832-1837 most of these are for 1832-1833. Many of these are for postage and funeral expenses such as the digging of the grave.

In addition there is one miscellaneous folder. These are made up of several receipts while Robert Roy was alive. A copy of an account between Dr. J.T. Woodull and congregation. It is not clear how this relates to the Roy estate. There is also some calculations, it is not quite clear what these relate to.
