Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series is comprised of administrative records compiled by the office of Representative Holt during his time in Congress. Material that can be found in this series include office management files, such as staffing, staff retreats, short and long-term planning, memos and correspondence, budgets, legal files, and summaries of Holt's terms in office.

Additionally there is material relating to constituent outreach and relations. This is represented partially in casework files, which refers to the response or services that Members of Congress provide to constituents who request assistance with federal problems. While there are casework files in each Congressional grouping, the number of casework files in the collection increases in later congressional terms. Also of note with regards to constituent outreach are mass mailings that were sent out over the years. This includes notices of town halls, year-end reports highlighting specific accomplishments of the Holt team, and newsletters targeted to different demographics within Holt's constituency, focusing on a variety of topics related to each group.

Furthermore, this series includes files related to the DC Days that Holt hosted during his tenure in office. These days were themed by different groups within the contituency, with the aim of having participants meet policymakers and discuss topic of importance to each group. Groups include librarians, farmers and agricultural leaders, labor leaders, teachers, environmental leaders, law enforcement, religious leaders, veterans, women, and other communities of note in Central New Jersey.
