Sub-Series
Collages and Cut-Outs
Scope and Contents
Summary: Schapiro used magazine pages, paper samples, and fabric as templates for cutting shapes and figures. Often she focused on finding and cutting shapes from patterns, like images of sofas or dresses. Inspired by Matisse's love of cut paper as art later in his life, Schapiro's cut-outs would often be a starting point for her collage-making. Also included in this subseries are her preparatory works for the BookMobile series in the 1990s.
