Seed Pods,, [1950?-1951]

Scope and Contents

Lubell 11/6: 67a-e

Five four-color woodblock prints of two profiles of people, behind a group of branches. Each of the latter has a different color – red, green, brown, and black – with the human faces in blue, and a yellow background. Colors and objects are solid, with some line patterns but minimal shading. Differences between the five prints seem nonexistent: similar type and sizes of rice paper, same colors, same positioning; even the quality of the ink appears roughly equivalent. Writing on 67a reads “Dried Seed Pods” below the title and is dated ’51. All are signed W. Milius. The original folder holding the sheets read “Seed Pods ’50,” though the one dated print appears to read 1951. Multiple tears and cuts along the edges and interiors of the paper. The blocks that make up that print include 3 Seed pod (Lubell 485), 4 Seed Pod (Lubell 486), Seed Pod V (Lubell 487), Seed pods II (Lubell 489), and [Seed Pods] (Lubell 488). All blocks, excepting Lubell 488 are together in Box 37. Lubell 488 is in Box 45.

All are approximately 45.5 x 60.5 cm
