Scope and Contents

Lubell 9/4: 330a-f

Black and white woodblock prints. Seated turtle showing head, legs and flat stomach shell. Lubell 330a-c are printed on smaller, more light-weight paper than the other two. 330a-c are black and white with no additional color, though 330a, labeled “Proof 1,” has white gouache covering unwanted lines. In 330d-f, the turtle has yellow eyes, and in 330f it has a green/yellow beak. 330f is labeled “A/P” and had been matted and signed Winifred Lubell. The matting was retained, as it was an acid free treatment. A folder with these pieces suggested a possible date as 1980s(?). See untitled woodblock (Lubell 517, Box 43).

330a-d size range – 19.3 x 15.1 cm to 23 x 18.3 cm 330e - 30.3 x 25.2 cm

330f – 32.2 x 27.9 cm (matted), 28.2 x 24.3 cm (unmatted)

Image measures 15.1 x 12.6 cm
