Lubell 7/7: 196a-c

A black and white woodcut print of boys playing under a city bridge with buildings, a hungry dog and a man scavenging from the ground in the background. Lubell 196a-b are untitled, unsigned and undated. Lubell 196c is signed Winifred Milius Lubell, with the notation “1936-1936. Reprinted 1998.” A photocopy originally accompanying the prints had a crossed out title Midnight Streets. These were in a folder with a sheet labelled: "(3) For Spain '36, for a portfolio of drawings and prints to Spanish Civil War relief exhibition." The untitled woodblock, carved on one side with the image from Lubell 195 and on the other, with that of Lubell 196, is Lubell 519 (Box 43).
