Lubell 7/2: 151a-h
Wood engraving. Black and white print of a woman (Greek? Sumerian?), possibly with wings, holding a swan/goose (?) in one hand, a bird/owl (?) in the other hand, standing above swimming fish and accompanied by a lion. Print 151a is signed W.M.L. Print 151b is signed W.M. Lubell and titled Potnia Theron. Print 151c has notations by bottom edge: first, a check mark and “god” and second “#2202C. ink steel tool + wooden printer.” Prints 151d-e are unidentified, though 151d is marked with a penciled “x.” Prints 151f-h are marked as proofs. 151g and 151h are both marked Proof 1, but 151g has whiteout or white paint covering unwanted lines. This image is one of three that form a part of the print Fragments from Athena’s Robe, Lubell 291. All are printed on Japanese paper.
