The Crane Dance,, [1990?]

Dates

  • [1990?]

Scope and Contents

Lubell 6/13: 97

Colored white line woodcut print of various human silhouettes arranged in a number of ways. Structured like a triptych, with three distinct "floors" (each with a separate color for the background: brown, red, and brown, with the first brown a slightly lighter shade) for the people to stand on. The first and third are far more similar, with figures standing and holding some kind of crop (probably wheat). In the second, however, the people are dancing and moving extensively, with the white lines making a visual representation of the rhythm from one person's instrument. A crane is in the second and third "floors." Signed Winifred Milius Lubell.
