Lubell 6/10: 88
Colored white line woodcut print of the Babylonian fertility goddess, leading a mythological animal (possibly a griffin; it has a lion's head and bird wings). In her hands is a 7-pointed flower (with an eighth possibly obscured from our perspective); this is likely a reference to the 8-pointed star associated with her. With the exception of a few blues, the majority of the piece uses warm colors, particularly reds and yellows. Red, yellow, and black are used for the side borders, and red, brown, and grey for the top. Signed Winifred Milius Lubell. See woodblock titled Ishtar (Lubell 455, Box 28).
