Colored white line woodcut print of a selection of lichen. Unlike many others of Lubell's depictions, there is no naturalism or even a tacit concern for space; the plants are just jumbled around each other like non-figural art patterns. A rather extensive use of color differentiates the pieces; greens, yellows, browns, purples, blues, orange, and black are all used. Signed Winifred Lubell. Lubell 86, titled Lichen Thicket #1 and Lubell 317, titled Lichen Forest are prints from the same woodblock. An untitled woodblock with a similar treatment of the same subject is Lubell 522 (Box 44).
