Very loose and fast ink drawing inscribed “Maria Sibylla Merian, 1647-1717, Dutch artist & entomologist.” She holds a dragonfly in her hand. Along with her description, Lubell includes the line, "illustration for a projected biography." Another writing of the title appears to have been cut off at the bottom of the piece. There are light graphite pencil lines near the top of the piece. Signed both Winifred Lubell and W. Lubell.
