Brown ink and wash drawing of a large group of underwater lichen, with a variety of colors, shades, and styles for each plant. Some of the lichens are only drawn using lines to highlight their “hairs”, while another is drawn with cruder strokes that only show its segments. Crossed lines, dot patterns, and on some cases, uniform shading are used to distinguish space. Additionally, a seemingly unrelated series of lines can be seen on some parts of the piece, but are very noticeable in one area on the right side. Signed Winifred Lubell. Piece was removed from matting and a photocopy of writing from the mat verso is included in the folder.
