Pastel drawing (with gouache and watercolor). Landscape of a field, with a massive tree in the center and a house in the back. The tree, extensively inked, commands the attention of the viewer while the other objects (other trees in the background, the house, reddish-brown grass) are undefined to the point where they essentially are the background. One of the trees in particular blends almost seamlessly as part of the background, while the house’s borders fail to prevent the green wash of the background from pouring inside (making it look translucent in nature). Wash is used extensively, from the red foreground next to the main tree and spots in its branches to the various shades of green that cover the canvas. Oversized.
