Scope and Contents
Lubell 2/1: 4
Ink drawing of a thistle branch, surrounded by two fern branches; the two plant types are additionally separated by form. Red ink is used for the thistle, with soft lines that seem to recede into the background (the plant’s details consist largely of the bud and leaves). The ferns, meanwhile, use black ink to make sharper and more detailed leaves. Individual short line and dot patterns mark all of the leaves, and ticks and pieces can be found throughout the branch. Drawing is on illustration board.
