Scope and Contents
Refers to favor of 11th inst. Comment upon splendid work of Carson and Berbeck. Absolves Lockwood of blame for accident. Discussion of perquisites of pilot and steward on Richmond and troubles arising therefrom. May be discontinued by paying each officer a salary as does Fulton Company. Remedy for trouble is to hold open investigation. Increased travelling on North River Line due to occlusion of Fulton boats from Connecticut. Line of stages from Litchfield to Poughkeepsie now in operation and it is proposed to start another from southwest part of Connecticut to Cold Spring Landing. Northwest part of Connecticut, part of Massachusetts and Vermont can find readiest conveyance from Hudson which will increase our travelling greatly. Request for monthly accounts.
