Mr. Livingston wishes business about Capt. Wiswall's lease be settled and it is hereby called to your attention. Discussion of hams in stock some of which are bad, and plans for securing Virginia hams for the season. We are attempting a compromise among the Jersey malcontents and as Mr. Stevens finds they will be unable to do anything in Albany, he is ready for negotiations here. Gibbons has made overtures to John R. but the old condition of pursuing the suit is a "sine qua non" it is possible something may arise from this negotiation. Request bill for the timber. Postscript, Early grounding of the Chancellor indicates some - thing must be done - either make the large boats run to Hudson and keep a tender from thence to Albany or else have a scow sort of vessel made on purpose for the Chancellor.
