Favor of 18th inst. received. Waited upon Mr. Jay. R.L. Livingston in town denies receiving your letter on subject of Directors making an answer, shall ask Mr. Jay's advice at R.L.L' s. request and get him to draw it up. Messrs. Livingston request that Chancellor be got ready immediately so as to go to Albany the moment the River is open. Request letter be sent to Mr. Raymond to secure timber for wheels at lower dock at Cornwall (Vonduzers) -if no sloop is ready will send Fire Fly for it. Wish Gough to come down end of next week. Nothing received from Allaire & would not employ man who has acted so basely. Mr. Horton took up counter certificates but McQueen did not sign as Allaire told him the Company's had threatened to stop him from making engines. Carson Kemble &c signed. Warning note sounded in discussion of plot emanating from enemies of the Company relative to the Legislature and the Grants -give them privilege now of admitting boats from.
