The Diary was an artistic and commercial success and led to the gradual reintroduction of old faces into English typography....'; Updike, Printing Types, Volume II, pp. 198 199: '...the chief typographic event of the mid nineteenth century was this revival of the earliest Caslon types in the competent hands of Pickering and Whittingham...'; Charles Whittingham, No. 32.
