Scope and Contents

Ross 5/9 - 169a-c

Three collagraphs: one in orange, red and green, another in pink, gray and orange, and the last in pink, gray and brown. Images of Venetian buildings in different colors and overlapping each other. All have what appears to be the same, slope-roofed building near the center of the pattern (Palazzo Contarine delle Figure), and the same building decorated with trefoils [Doge’s Palace] on the right. A building with columned arches and circle detail [Palazzo Dario] is on the left side in one print, on the right in another and in the center in the third. For Ross 169a, the predominant colors of the left side are orange and brown and on the right side, red and green. Ross 169b-c are divided more noticeably into three strips with the predominant color in Ross 169b, from left to right, being pink, gray and red-orange and in Ross 169c, from left to right, pink, gray and brown with yellow. A/P and Artist’s Proof. Heavy cream-colored paper. Signed John Ross.
