Abstract: The Alan Silver Papers, 1934-1987 comprise the private collection of Rutgers alumnus Alan Silver, relating to his involvement in the Bergel/Hauptmann affair of the 1930's. These records chronicle the administrative career of Irving S. Upson, who from 1890-1915 took on various roles within Rutgers College. These roles include that of the first university registrar, secretary, and treasurer, as well as college librarian.
