The Count Basie family papers and artifacts comprise the extant papers and personal belongings of the Basie family, including Catherine, Diane, and Count Basie. The collection contains personal papers, music, photographic prints and negatives, business records, artwork, and audio and moving image recordings, as well as artifacts. Abstract:
The collection has essentially two parts: the official records of the Modern School of Stelton, New Jersey, and items donated to the collection by the students and teachers of the Modern School and residents of the Stelton Colony. At the reunion of the Friends of the Modern School, held every year since 1973, items are donated.
