Abstract:

The documents comprising the papers of William Walter Phelps, attorney, Congressman, investor, and minister, span the years from as early as 1845 to 1911. The bulk of the collection however is between 1870 to 1898. The papers that date back to 1846 are his fathers' tax receipts in New York City. Mr. Phelps' father was the famous and wealthy merchant John J. Phelps. The papers that document Mr. Phelps' life are written during a period in which Mr. Phelps holds highly prominent positions .

Abstract: The Wilson family collection contains letters as early as 1880 and as late as 1973. The bulk of the correspondence was written between 1893 and 1909. It consists mostly of letters between Henry Delano Wilson and his wife Ellen (Price) Wilson. Henry was often away from home for long periods of time as a Navy surgeon and wrote to Ellen during his travels describing his day-to-day life. This collection primarily consists of examples of the artistic output, prints, drawings and watercolors, of artist and book illustrator Winifred Milius Lubell. Also included are sketchbooks, woodblocks for many of the prints, draft illustrations for her book Metamorphosis of Baubo and research studies for her project on marginalia in medieval books.

Abstract: The records of the Evening Membership Department of the Woman's Club of Woodbury (Woodbury EMD) cover the years 1949-1993. The heaviest concentration of records exists for the 1970s and 1980s. The records prior to the 1970s are represented primarily by minutes and yearbooks.
