Series IV: Committee on Conduct of Research (CCR), undated, 1988-1997 with gaps

This series documents Dr. Chinard's work with the University Committee on Conduct of Research (CCR) at UMDNJ from 1990 to 1997, although some records predate 1990. Chinard chaired the Committee from 1993 to 1996. The Committee was established to revise and implement the University's policy of scientific misconduct and fraud, in compliance with federal regulations. The Committee also developed official University guidelines pertaining to ethics and misconduct in scientific research, and conducted inquiries and formal investigations of alleged misconduct. Three Campus Committees, Newark, Piscataway/New Brunswick, and Camden/Stratford, reported to the University Committee. University Committee members initially included: Ms. Celia Abalos, Dr. Edward T. Browning (Chairperson), Ms. Julie Kligerman, Dr. David Price, Dr. Karen Putterman, Dr. Asha Samant, Dr. Stephen Schwartz, Dr. Theresa Scholl, Ms. Mary Shean, Dr. Norman Sissman, and Dr. Lester Sultatos. Members served terms of two or three years.

This series contains handwritten and typed letters, memos, minutes, member lists, reports, course materials, articles, clippings, and reprints. There are original, photocopied, and faxed materials. Documents have been kept in their original order, with minimal reorganization. The majority of records are in chronological order within the folders, although some folders overlap.

Most of the series is open access; however, folders 17, 18, and 19 in box 6 contain confidential information, and have been placed under a RESTRICTED ACCESS label for a period of ten years.
