Scope and Contents

This collection consists of historian Don Donaldson Jr.'s handwritten and photocopied notes on various subjects including his biography, jazz history, and the history of New York City. The collection includes notes on Count Basie, Lester Young, Quincy Jones, Roger Ramierez, African-American bands of the 1930s and 1940s, and his father Don Donaldson Sr. (1903-1981), a pianist and arranger active during the Swing Era. Also included is a copy of the invitation Donaldson Jr. received to speak at the Queens Historical Society.
