Scope and Contents
This collection contains scrapbooks, business, and personal papers documenting Wein's life and career as a festival producer and jazz promoter. The collection comprises ten scrapbooks with newspaper clippings and press regarding the Newport Jazz Festival.
There are photographs of Wein in his early life and press clippings for many concerts he produced including French Lick, Indiana (1958) and Jazz at the Brussels World Fair. There are French newspaper clippings, articles, and ephemera for a jazz festival in Nice, France in 1981 and 1985. There is also ephemera from other iterations of the Newport Jazz Festival.
The business papers include correspondence, press releases, bills, and contracts, many related to the 1963 Newport Jazz festival. The personal papers include correspondence, donations, event invitations, award programs, speeches, head shots, newspaper obituaries, and essays.

The majority of this collection is in English with some press clippings in French and Belgian.
Conditions Governing Access
This collection is restricted due to the condition of the materials. Photocopied access copies of Wein's scrapbooks are open for use in boxes 11-13.

This collection consists of scrapbooks, business, and personal papers. The materials are arranged as follows: Boxes 1-8; scrapbooks, 1926-1966 Box 9-10; Busines and personal papers, 1950s-1990s Box 11; reproductions of the scrapbooks.
