Scope and Contents

The collection comprises print and audiovisual materials.

The print materials related to Sun Ra are primarily performance programs and newspaper articles from his late era tours. There is a binder of photocopied newspaper clippings from 1986-1989. Also included are tribute concert materials, biographical materials, and obituaries from 1994-1998.

The print materials related to Cecil Taylor include concert promotional materials, programs, and ticket stubs. There is also a binder of photocopied newspaper clippings. A few newspaper clippings in German and a Spanish magazine are included.

The collection also includes Trudy Morse's personal ephemera of poetry performances, brochures, and jazz festival pamphlets. There are also printed e-mails regarding payment and tour schedules for Cecil Taylor and a copy of a dissertation on Cecil Taylor by Mark Bobak.

The audiovisual materials in the collection are mostly VHS tapes of Sun Ra performances, tribute concerts, and two Cecil Taylor performance. The collection also includes five audiocassettes of European artists.

This collection is organized into into two series: print materials and audiovisual materials. The print materials are organized by person.

The first series is further organized into three subseries.
