Scope and Contents
Book, Concert and Theatrical reviews by Berton and published Letters to the Editor. Book reviews are first in this section, organized alphabetically by title. Dates of reviews range from the 1950s through the 1980s. Most are copies of manuscripts of published reviews with author's marginal notes and revisions. Occasionally tear sheets or photocopies of the published articles are included when they had been saved by the author. There follows in this box concert reviews by Berton, Folders # 13 through #16 arranged alphabetically by headlining performing artist. These concert reviews date from the 1950s through the 1980s. Folder #17 includes Berton's handwritten notes on West Side Story. Folder #18 includes Berton's Letters to the Editor and Op Ed pieces, usually either tear sheets or photocopies of published pieces, most from the 1980s and most on non-musical, political subjects.
