 Series

Clippings and publications, 1946 - 1989

Dates

  • 1946 - 1989

Scope and Contents

The series contains clippings related to Howard McGhee performances between 1946 and 1981 and trace the highlights of McGhee's career in the late 1940s and again from the early 1960s to the 1980s when his health began to fail; the lack of clippings for much of the 1950s is indicative of the trumpeter's years lost in heroin addiction. McGhee's recording career is also covered in this series.
