Scope and Contents
This film has no sound and includes television broadcasts of the Antibes Jazz Festival and Jazz at Blue Note in the early 1960s. The film begins with a few seconds of a performance by Ray Charles and the Raelettes. Next, Bud Powell (piano) performs "Monopoly" At 4:28, there is a short clip of a performance of the Les McCann Trio at the Antibes Jazz Festival. At 4:50, Bud Powell, Jean-Marie Ingrand (bass), and Kenny Clarke perform "I want to be Happy" at Blue Note. The film also includes short clips of performances at Blue Note by Bud Powell, accompanied by Kenny Clarke (drums), and Pierre Michelot (bass); a quartet formed by Alice MacLeod (piano), Lucky Thompson (soprano sax), Pierre Michelot (bass) and Kenny Clarke (drums); and Billie Poole (vocalist) with the McLeod Trio. The film also includes short clips of Bud Powell performing at the Antibes Jazz Festival accompanied by Charles Mingus (bass), Ted Curson (trumpet), Ervin Booker (tenor sax), Eric Dolphy (alto sax), and Dannie Richmond (drums).
