Scope and Contents
Materials in this series date from circa 1970s. The series includes interviews with musicians who worked with Powell, including Kenny Clarke, Max Roach, Bertha Hope, Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Gourley, and Pierre Michelot, among others. There are also interviews with Powell’s physician, family, and friends, as well as footage of Paudras visiting Powell’s graveyard with Powell’s family members. Paudras conducted and filmed these interviews. Interview transcripts and English translations of the French language interviews are available via the IJS research portal. Please contact an archivist for more details. This series is organized alphabetically by title.
