Scope and Content Note

This collection dates from 1860 to 1947, consisting of various documents relating to William Christian Miller Sr. and William Christian Miller Jr. It includes a scrapbook, mostly of newspaper articles, beginning in 1979, pamphlets from Rutgers events such as the Rutgers Glee Club concert of 1881, Inter Society Debate program, Commencement week 1926, photographs from school dances, as well as several diplomas.

Biographical Sketch of William Christian Miller Sr. and Jr.

William Christian Miller Sr. was a Rutgers graduate of the class of 1883 with a Bachelor of Arts. He was an engineer major. He grew up in Albany, New York, and was involved with the Ridgefield Athletic Club. At Rutgers he was class secretary his sophomore and junior year. He was President of the Association of Targum Editors, and an I. A. A Representative (2nd prize, 1 mile walk 1882). He was in the Rutgers College Choir as a second tenor, as well as the Treasurer and second tenor of the Rutgers College Glee Club. He was the Captain of the Class Baseball Team in 1880 and 1881, and in the Peripatetic Club. He continued his education at Rutgers with his Masters of Science in 1886. William Christian Miller Jr. was a Rutgers graduate of the class of 1926. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
