IV. Organizational Newsletters and Bulletins

Scope and Contents

These records are the newsletters published by the National Shellfisheries Association, as well as the bulletins that were published by the Oyster Institute of North America.

The N.S.A. newsletters were initially published on an irregular basis, but later began to be published quarterly. Like many newsletters, they include information on the organization's activities, personalities, and other items of interest.

The OINA bulletins were published on a regular basis to detail the organization's activities in spreading the word about oysters and the oyster industry. There are many trade reports which illustrate statistics and trends in the industry and other things of note. In the summer of 1961, the name of the OINA bulletins was changed to "Shellfish Soundings," but in order to avoid confusion, they remain listed here as "Oyster Institute of North America Bulletins."
